SPhotonix Expands to Switzerland
Date: 30th April 2025
SPhotonix has signed the deal for a new lab space in Neuchatel, Switzerland. As part of its growth plans, the deep tech start-up required additional and significant lab space to complement University of Southampton’s ORC capacity.
The new lab is set to be launched in early Summer 2025, when SPhotonix scales its operations in data storage and optical device fabrication with a number of new projects starting. Recruitment for the lab team is well underway alongside acquisition of key equipment.
At the same time, SPhotonix officially incorporated its Swiss subsidiary, SPhotonix SA, as part of the SPhotonix Group. Working with local notaries, Hoffer & Piller, the formalisation of the company was completed in February 2025.
Commenting on this achievement, SPhotonix CEO, Ilya Kazansky said:
“This marks a significant milestone for SPhotonix and for the data storage and optical device sectors. We are now in a position to rapidly scale our operations, and start tackling the challenges that data archiving, data storage, and optical fabrication have. The use of quartz is a simple yet effective method that will yield returns for decades post purchase and investment. We are ready to embrace all the issues these sectors have, and work with partners in creating diligent, valuable solutions.”
